TV I really don't watch as much TV as many other people my age. I prefer to read or code (depending on my energy level). When I do watch TV I like to watch The Simpsons, Boston Public, Star Trek (usually just TNG but Voyager if I'm desperate) and That 70s Show. Not a very long list, I think a lot of TV right now just plain sucks, with most comedy just being low brow sexual jokes. In terms of movies some of my favorites are either just pure comedy or emotion/thought provoking. Of course I do like a mix. My favorite all-time movie is probably Spaceballs. I can't remember how many different video tape copies I've gone through (I'm too cheap to buy a DVD deck). Next to that you've got Rudy, American Beauty, Neverending Story (absolutely incredible!!) and The Matrix to name a few. Usually I'll just surf around and see what's on. Most times I'll land on the Discovery Channel, Fox or PBS. If I know of a musical/play being on TV at a good time I'll usually watch that. I'll also watch other shows if Bernadette is on them (and I'll usually record those). LaserDisc I picked up a laserdisc player so that I could play the Bernadette Peters in Concert LD from 1979. Since then I collected some other LDs, mostly because it is much cheaper to buy the LDs than it is to buy the DVDs. I don't have a DVD player. One thing that's cool about LDs is that there are a lot of musicals that can be had. Yes I know they are on DVD, yes I know DVD is superior, see I'm tired of people telling me that my stuff is old and sucks. I like it. Anyway, I got Les Miserables 10th Anniversary, Sunday In The Park With George, Cats, Les Miserables Stage by Stage and hopefully Follies soon. They're great. Usually I throw in a musical LD than watch TV.I do have "normal" movies for the LD player, including Masters of the Universe, The Rock (cool movie), Contact, Fantasia (neato) and hopefully Spaceballs soon. |
