| I
really didn't care too much about music until I saw the 15th Anniversary
recording of Les Mis on the local PBS channel. That Christmas my parents
bought me the 2 CD recording of it and I loved it. I had been playing
the sax for a few years so I also got the sheet music for the show to
entertain myself. A few years later I got involved with the Garden State
Pops Youth Orchestra. We actually played full orchestral sections from
the show; it was great! As a group we went to see shows on Broadway. The
first bway show I saw was Phantom. I was hooked :)
Since then I try and see shows whenever I can and have the funds to do so. I've seen Phantom, Lord of the Dance (x2), Riverdance, Riverdance on Broadway, Beauty and the Beast and Annie Get Your Gun (with my lady Bernadette). I regulary go to Bernadette's concerts when she tours and have gotten lots of stuff autographed by her. Oh, check out the picture of me and her on the fishbowl. As far as "pop" musical my tastes are all over the place. I can listen to alternative, soft-rock, metal, oldies, etc. Some of my favorite groups/people are: Goo Goo Dolls, The Color Green (from the movie 'Girl'), U2, Bon Jovi, Seven Nations (touring celtic-rock band), Steve Winwood, some Faith Hill/Leann Rimes, Belinda Carisle, The Corrs, Enya, etc. See? All over the place. So, am I an MP3 kiddie? Yeah. The only difference is I rip my own MP3s and archive them. I have a CD rack that holds 500 CDs and it's pretty full :) So how many gigs does that translate in to? 100,172M or about 100 Gigs of music. I collect rare CDs (mainly showtunes/soundtracks) and resell them on eBay. I've developed a programming system that monitors used CD stores on the internet and alerts me when rare items pop up. How does it know what's rare? It gathers stats based off auction prices. You didn't think I was going to manually enter all the data myself, did you?? |
